Keratin is a protein found naturally in skin, hair, and nails, in addition to other sources. In human hair, it acts as both an external protective shield and an internal structural protein. Keratin is depleted when hair is damaged physically, chemically or from environmental factors, such as the sun.

Keratin smoothing treatments are not the same as chemical straightening treatments. Our keratin treatments use the latest advances in science along with the finest ingredients to reduce curl, target weak spots, and reinforce the hair’s structure, helping to repair damage, block humidity, and reduce frizz while leaving hair soft, silky, shiny, and smooth.

No matter your hair type or texture, you can receive keratin smoothing ­– even if your hair is bleached, damaged, dyed, highlighted or you’ve had other chemical treatments like Japanese straighteners or relaxers.

For best results we recommend the EXTRA.SMOOTH (results up to 5 months) treatment for thick coarse hair.

The EXTRA.SMOOTH Treatment will last 3-5 months on average. The SO.SMOOTH treatment will last up to 10 weeks.

With our Keratin Smoothing treatments, there’s no need for gloves or masks since there are no toxic vapours produced. Instead, you just get to sit back, relax and feel pampered while a friendly, expert member of the team apply the treatment. This takes around 60 minutes to two hours depending on the type of treatment you’re having and the length of your hair.

Unlike most smoothing treatments, with our Cezanne treatments the hair can be washed immediately. There are also no restrictions on workout out, wearing ponytails or clips and using styling products after the treatment.

To ensure the long lasting effects of your Cezanne keratin smoothing treatment we recommend maintaining this service at home with Cezanne Perfect Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner, and Blowout Creme.  For clients with blonde or white hair we recommend the Ultimate Blonde shampoo and conditioner.

All of the Cezanne after care products contain some of the same proprietary ingredients as the treatments, extending the efficacy and life of the treatment!

Our EXTRA.SMOOTH keratin treatment should last you anywhere from 3-6 months depending on how often you’re shampooing, and making sure you’re only using the right after-care products (eg Cezanne’s Perfect Moisture range). How many times a year can you get the treatment without damaging hair? We usually recommend 2-3 times a year.

For our SO.SMOOTH keratin treatment, with the right aftercare the treatment should last you 6 – 10 weeks. We usually recommend re-doing the treatment every 8 weeks.

If for whatever reason you are wanting to re-do your treatment earlier it is recommended to wait at least 2 weeks. This will help remove possible residual keratin and allow for more even absorption of the treatment. 

For kinky-curly hair, our keratin smoothing will help to reduce bulk, soften hair and define curls, making your hair much smoother and, overall, much easier to manage.

Unlike formaldehyde-based treatments, our keratin smoothing actually strengthens hair rather than damaging it. So, over time you can expect even stronger and more luxurious hair than ever.

Unlike formaldehyde-based smoothing treatments, our keratin smoothing treatments still allow you to curl your hair and add volume and texture.

Our treatment products do not contain any harmful chemicals, and always have been and always will be formaldahyde-free!

No. Keratin smoothing treatments are different to permanent chemical straightening, which usually lasts until your hair grows out.

You can have your hair coloured before or after the keratin smoothing service. If colour is done after the treatment, you eliminate issues of lifting colour.

As with all keratin smoothing treatments, there is a potential to lift colour because of the heat involved with the process. Whether or not any colour is lifted and how much colour is lifted is a function of the particular hair or colour type.

There is nothing in the keratin treatment product itself to change hair colour, but blonde or white hair has been known to have a yellow or golden hue for a variety of reasons. This could occur during the treatment and outside of our control. Causes can include type of colour or treatments already in your hair, and even medication you might be taking. Even aspirin can affect hair colour!

Although our keratin smoothing treatments do not contain formaldehyde, carcinogens or dangerous chemicals, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding we recommend checking with your physician for a professional recommendation first.
